Material Handler

Responsibilities

• Move merchandise and materials from shipment to production floor.
• Load and unload materials in warehouse and storage by transport equipment like cranes and forklifts.
• Deliver materials with accuracy according to paperwork.
• Prepare materials for shipping, such as weighing, packaging, and banding.
• Prepare shipment method according to shipping procedures, routes, and rates.
• Participate in routing, counting, and inspecting items while loading and unloading trucks.
• Prepare necessary shipping forms such as bills of lading.
• Resolve problems regarding shipping, receiving, and stock operations.
• Safe use of an overhead crane and forklift.

• Safety practices and record keeping.
• Physical ability to lift heavy packages and objects.
• Able to operate a forklift and other material handling equipment or any large vehicles in tight and congested areas.
• Basic knowledge of math and computers.
• Communication skills.
• Overhead crane skills.
• Attention to detail.
• Able to read a tape measure.
