PHYSICAL EDUCATION MIDDLE SCHOOL TEACHER

SALARY: $44,450.00 - $54,150.00 per YCEA Contract

SUMMARY

Instructs students in activities designed to promote social, physical and intellectual growth in the subject matter and skills that will contribute to their development as mature, able and responsible adults.

QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS

EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE

Valid Michigan teaching certificate with BA endorsement

Bachelor degree with required certification

Individuals with relevant teaching experience will receive extra consideration

Excellent reasoning ability

Understanding of concepts in your content area

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Teach district-approved curriculum

Meet and instruct assigned classes in the locations and at the times designated

Plan a program of study that meets the individual needs, interests and abilities of the students

Create a classroom environment that is conducive to learning and appropriate to the maturity and interest of the students

Encourage students to set and maintain standards of classroom behavior

Establish clear objectives for lessons, units, projects, and communicate these to students

Diagnose the educational needs of students

Evaluate pupils’ academic and social growth, keep appropriate records and prepare progress reports

Be available to students and parents for education-related purposes outside the instructional day

TURNAROUND SKILLS

Collaborate to create and execute clear, logical instructional plans that produce strong results in student learning

Align curriculum, instruction, and assessments while responding to the individual needs of the students

Implement a tiered system of instruction within the classroom to meet the needs of all students

Discuss subject specific content instruction and the drive to try out new ideas to improve student learning

Coordinate instruction within and across grade levels

Seek out knowledgeable peers, coaches, or administrators for instructional support in the quest to deliver high quality subject-specific instruction

Thrive in a professional environment that is one of mutual respect, teamwork and accountability

PHYSICAL DEMANDS

The employee is frequently required to stand, talk, hear, walk, sit, bend or twist at the neck more than the average person. The employee may occasionally push or lift up to 50 lbs. such as boxes of books and AV/VCR carts.

WORK ENVIRONMENT

The noise level is usually moderate to loud. The employee is frequently required to interact with the public and other staff, and is directly responsible for the safety, well-being and output of students.
