SUMMARY
The Principal of Brick Elementary provides instructional and operational leadership to support student achievement, staff development, and a positive school culture. The principal oversees daily school operations, leads school improvement and MTSS initiatives, supervises and evaluates staff, promotes collaboration with families and the community, and ensures a safe, inclusive, and effective learning environment aligned with district goals and Board of Education expectations.

- Master’s degree in education or educational leadership or related field.
- Has a valid Michigan teaching certificate with five years of successful teaching experience.
- Has a valid Michigan School Administrator certificate or the ability to obtain per MDE guidelines.
- Has prior experience as an administrator of a school building preferred.
- Applicants must satisfactorily pass a criminal background check as defined by the State of Michigan.
- Good work habits, including punctuality and good attendance record.
- Consistently promotes fairness, respect, and different viewpoints in all responsibilities.
- Develop and maintain an effective educational program consistent with state and federal guidelines and the philosophy, policies, regulations, and strategic plan of the Board of Education.
- Develop, implement, and evaluate efforts related to student academic achievement ensuring that the school meets or makes satisfactory progress towards district standards, goals and student achievement.
- Establish a professional learning culture through a solid foundation of shared mission, vision, values and goals.
- Provide instructional leadership for school staff; identifies, implements, and monitors school‑wide strategies that accelerate and challenge learning for achievers; develops appropriate staff development programs designed to improve staff’s instructional practices.
- Leads building level achievement and school improvement efforts. Establish priorities to meet the needs of students and teachers through work with the building MICIP and collaboration with staff and parents.
- Monitor all dimensions of special education in the school to ensure compliance with federal, state, and local mandates and guidelines.
- Plan, organize and direct implementation of all school activities.
- Evaluate and counsel all staff members regarding their individual and/or group performance in compliance with federal and/or state laws.
- Implements the district’s Multi‑Tiered System of Supports (MTSS) and MICIP Process.
- Fosters a culture of teamwork and achievement for students and staff members.
- Promotes good public relations within the community by interpreting and presenting policies, procedures, aims, objectives and educational philosophy to the community and staff.
- Develop, implement, and evaluate data‑driven procedures in collaboration with staff.
- Work with central office personnel to coordinate processes for effective functioning of the school.
- Establishes a collaborative decision‑making process inclusive of staff for maintaining a productive learning environment.
- Foster a safe and orderly school environment; prepares emergency procedures and communicates them to students, teachers, and staff; collaboratively develops and implements a school discipline plan that contains clear expectations, a system of positive reinforcement, and…
