The Eastern Michigan University School of Music & Dance invites applications for a Full-Time Lecturer in Music with expertise in piano. The successful candidate will teach group piano, applied piano, and other music courses related to their areas of expertise. This is a full-time appointment, subject to the collective bargaining agreement between Eastern Michigan University and the EMU Federation of Teachers, and requires in-person instruction on Eastern Michigan University’s campus in Ypsilanti, Michigan.
PrincipalDuties and Responsibilities
Teaching will include group piano, applied piano, and other music courses related to their areas of expertise. Teaching may also include a number of particular obligations which employees are expected to fulfill, including but not limited to: meeting with students during and outside of assigned classes, assessing student work and performance, preparing syllabi and course materials, providing copies of syllabi and course materials to their supervisor on request, and assigning and submitting grades in accordance with established Eastern Michigan University schedules.
Minimum QualificationsMinimum qualifications include a Master of Music degree in piano or piano pedagogy as well as significant experience teaching piano in group and lesson settings.
Preferred QualificationsPreferred qualifications include college teaching experience and a doctorate in music.
