Qualifications Requirements:

Education and Experience:
- Bachelor's Degree in Education
- Possess a valid, current Michigan secondary teaching certificate
- Endorsement in Social Studies (DX) or (CX) Dual endorsement preferred
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Teach district approved curriculum
- Develop lessons and instructional material to adapt to the curriculum needs of each pupil
- Evaluate pupil's academic and social growth, keep appropriate records and prepare progress report
- Create a classroom environment that is conducive to learning and appropriate to the maturity and interests of the students
- Encourage students to set and maintain standards of classroom behavior
- Guide the learning process toward the achievement of curriculum goals and in harmony with the goals establishing clear objectives for all lessons, units, projects and the like to communicate these objectives to students
- Diagnose the learning disabilities of students
- Conducts parent teacher conferences for education related purposes outside the instructional day
- Supervise classroom and students
- Other duties may be assigned

- Read, analyze, and interpret professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations
- Communicate effectively and present information both in oral and in written form
Reasoning Ability:
- Define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions
- Interpret an extensive variety of statistical information and data related to student achievement

Skills and Abilities:
- Interact with public and other staff as required
- Apply knowledge of current replicated research and techniques related to sensory issues
Physical Demands:
- While performing the duties of this job, the employee is continuously required to sit and talk or hear
- Occasionally the employee will repeat the same hand, arm or finger motion many times
- The employee must be able to attend meetings in the evening and at other locations
Work Environment:
- The noise level in the work environment is usually quiet
