Making Youth Matter Program Support Coordinator(EMU and YCS)

Position Summary:
We are excited to announce an innovative, school-based social work internship and mentoring initiative that is a collaboration between EMU's School of Social Work and Ypsilanti Community Schools, supporting students at Ypsilanti Community Schools. This program is designed to deliver both universal social-emotional learning (SEL) support and targeted interventions, while providing hands‑on experience for undergraduate and graduate-level social work interns and professional oversight through a dedicated Program Coordinator.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's Degree in a social services field preferred
- Experience or interest in school-based work, SEL, macro-level social work, youth mentoring, and equity-centered practices.
- Strong interpersonal skills and commitment to trauma-informed, culturally responsive service.
- Proficient in oral and written communication and virtual platforms.
Responsibilities:
- Liaison: Serve as contact for program coordinator, director, school administration, teachers, and school social worker.
- Curriculum: Oversees universal SEL curriculum delivery and provides resources for 1:1 mentoring activities and group sessions
- Student Matching: Provides support for the mentor-mentee matching process and makes ongoing adjustments as needed in collaboration.
- Reporting: Supports program evaluation.
- Universal SEL Support: Support the coordinator in facilitation of SEL curriculum-based lessons in 5th-grade classrooms alongside the school social worker.
- Small Group Facilitation: Support the program coordinator and student interns in developing targeted SEL groups on topics such as emotional regulation, friendship building, and conflict resolution.
- After-School & Community Engagement: Participate in organizing and developing after-school sessions (e.g., 4:30 PM-6:30 PM) and plan monthly community-based outings to deepen mentorship impact, access, and exposure to community resources.
- Collaboration & Documentation: Participate in program evaluation, documentation of activities, and contribute to ongoing planning.
- Technology: Monitor online applications, expand social media platform presence for the program
- Other duties are assigned.
