Hourly rates range from $20.00 to $32.34; yearly salaries range from $24,396.00 to $67,000.00, depending on department and experience.

• Prevent, suppress, investigate, and respond to crimes.
• Patrol assigned areas and enforce local, state, and federal laws and ordinances.
• Apprehend suspects and effect arrests, including pursuing fleeing individuals.
• Perform rescue operations when necessary.
• Prepare arrest reports and documentation.
• Respond to emergency calls and provide first aid.
• Control traffic and enforce traffic regulations.
• Escort and maintain security on premises and property.
• Serve as a sworn law enforcement professional within the department.

Qualified candidates will be required to pass a preliminary background check. Depending on the department, additional requirements may include physical fitness tests, state law enforcement certification, or membership in the Army National Guard for military positions.
