POSITION

DESCRIPTION:

The RN II performs IHA’s Registered Nurse role at an advanced level. Provides professional nursing care for patients following established standards and practices, this may include triage and care needs that transpire between office visits. The RN II may also conduct nurse visits with patients and/or groups, provides care coordination for patients with complex needs, and/or takes on additional clinical leadership roles.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:
  • Performs Essential Job Functions from the Registered Nurse job description at an advanced level.
  • Assumes additional duties (examples listed below):
  • Performs high level nursing care, wellness care, specialty-specific and chronic disease education/management according to provider direction, standardized workflow or approved protocols. Cancer care, pre-op, intra-op and post-surgical care interventions and assisting in outpatient procedures are additional duty examples.
  • Provides direct care with individual patients and/or groups.
  • Provides care coordination for patients with complex needs.
  • Supports patients in modifying health behaviors.
  • Displays clinical leadership. Attends varied clinical leadership meetings and actively participates as a member of the leadership team to improve care delivery.
  • Leads patient care meetings and huddles as applicable.
  • Serves as a Preceptor when delegated for newly-hired clinical support staff and/or students. Provides feedback to both orientee and management in a timely manner, and acts as an ambassador to IHA’s culture and learning enabled organizational practices.
  • Serves as a resource to staff as EMR Super User when delegated.
  • Provides ongoing education to clinical staff.
  • Facilitates Lean projects and clinical research within specialty.
  • Participates in quality initiatives and performance improvement efforts to identify practice specific goals for designated patient groups.
  • Assumes additional duties as required.

  • If applicable, responsible for ongoing professional development – maintains appropriate licensure and continuing education credentials, participates in available learning opportunities.

ESSENTIAL

QUALIFICATIONS:

EDUCATION: Graduate of an accredited Registered Nurse program

CREDENTIALS/LICENSURE: Valid, unrestricted RN license in the State of Michigan. Valid CPR certification.

MINIMUM EXPERIENCE: 2 years of clinical experience in an ambulatory practice as a RN and/or demonstrated competency in IHA’s Registered Nurse position preferred.

POSITION REQUIREMENTS (ABILITIES & SKILLS):

  • Demonstrated competency in obtaining accurate patient vital statistics (height, weight, blood pressure, temperature, etc.) and patient health history.
  • Proficient in medical terminology.
  • Proficiency in operating a standard desktop and Windows-based computer system, including but not limited to, electronic medical records, email, e-learning, intranet and computer navigation. Ability to use other software as required while performing the essential functions of the job.
