API Analyst / Web Developer (Contract to Hire | 100% On-Site)

CMK Resources is seeking an API Analyst / Web Developer for one of our customers located in Ypsilanti, Michigan. This position will support and expand an existing IT and development team, contributing to both API development and web application support. The ideal candidate is hands-on, technically strong, and comfortable collaborating with business stakeholders and technical teams to deliver scalable solutions.
Responsibilities - API Development- Gather and analyze requirements based on end-user and business needs
- Develop APIs to integrate internal and external applications
- Collaborate with product, engineering, and development teams on API strategy
- Ensure APIs integrate effectively across systems and platforms
- Define, document, and maintain API use cases
- Develop enhancements and new features based on user stories and feedback
- Assist subject matter experts (SMEs) with API usage and integration
- Convert existing services into APIs where needed
- Monitor API endpoints, troubleshoot issues, and resolve performance concerns
- Serve as the primary technical advisor and developer for company websites and intranet platforms
- Gather and analyze user requirements to build functional web solutions
- Develop, modify, and maintain websites and web applications
- Ensure web platforms integrate seamlessly with internal systems and enterprise tools
- Build and support new features based on Azure Dev Ops (ADO) user stories
- Perform end-to-end testing, debugging, and regression testing
- Design, maintain, and optimize database schemas
- Apply UX/UI best practices to improve usability and user experience
- Implement web security best practices including SSL/TLS, XSS prevention, and SQL injection mitigation
- Implement and manage Role-Based Access Control (RBAC)
- Support integrations with Microsoft enterprise applications including SSO and MFA
- Strong experience with API development and integration
- Backend development experience with Node.js, Python, and/or PHP
- Database experience with MySQL, Postgre
SQL, and Microsoft SQL Server - Strong understanding of database design and schema optimization
- Experience using Git/Git Hub for version control
- Familiarity with frameworks and libraries as needed for development
- Experience with Word Press and Square Space
- Knowledge of Agile/SCRUM development practices
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or related field (or equivalent experience)
- Significant hands-on experience in API development and database design
- Strong communication skills and ability to work cross-functionally
- Methodical and practical problem-solving mindset
- Ability to collaborate with both technical and non-technical stakeholders
