Manufacturing Technician

Lux Wall is focused on the product development, scaling, and commercialization of innovative energy-efficient products and solutions for the built environment. Lux Wall’s Transparent Insulation provides a step change in energy performance by eliminating or significantly reducing convective, conductive, and radiative heat gain and heat loss in buildings.

The Manufacturing Technician plays a key role in Lux Wall’s manufacturing operations, contributing to the production of critical components of Transparent Insulation products. Required manufacturing at Lux Wall involves precise blending of organic and inorganic components – including powders, liquids, binders, and additives – into a homogeneous, high-performance system using industrial processing equipment. This role supports production activities, operates blending equipment, performs quality control analysis, maintains inventory, and collaborates with operations and R&D teams on scheduling, production planning, and development projects.

The ideal candidate brings deep hands-on experience with slurry, ink or paste systems and is comfortable working with both organic and inorganic material systems in a production or pilot-scale environment.

Position Responsibilities

• Perform operations pertaining to the manufacturing, quality control testing, and packaging of organic-inorganic systems. Troubleshoot equipment, materials, and processes.
• Safely operate industrial powder processing and small- to large-scale equipment including mills, mixers, and blenders.
• Execute post-manufacturing equipment cleaning and preventive maintenance
• Maintain raw material and finished goods inventory, including tracking stock levels, documenting usage, and coordinating replenishment with the operations team.
• Support the development of, and strict adherence to, process maps and standard operating procedures (SOPs) for manufacturing activities; flag deviations promptly.
• Prepare QC samples with strict dimensional and/or weight specifications.
  
  Plan, execute, and interpret organic and inorganic QC analysis using analytical instruments including but not limited to dilatometers, viscometers, and rheometers.
• Track, manage and dispose waste in compliance with company environmental health and safety (EHS) policies.
• Record, maintain, and communicate production data using Excel; ensure accuracy and completeness of all process logs.
• Continuous use of a manufacturing execution system (MES) and/or Microsoft Excel for production data entry, tracking, and basic analysis.
• Collaborate with the operations and R&D teams to coordinate scheduling, production, and shipment planning.
• Support the R&D and Scaling team on materials development, process development, and product development projects as needed. Collaborate directly with research scientists and design engineers to align on activities, priorities, and schedules.
• Ensure all work adheres to safety, quality, and regulatory standards

Position Requirements

• Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in Materials Science, Chemical Engineering Technology, Chemistry, or a related technical field preferred.
  
  Directly relevant experience may be considered in lieu of a degree.
• 5–10 years of hands-on experience in production or pilot-level manufacturing of organic solutions, ceramic slips, slurries, or pastes.
• Demonstrated proficiency in handling organic and inorganic powders and liquids in a manufacturing environment, including weighing, mixing, and transfer techniques.
• Extensive hands-on experience with production-scale mixing and blending equipment.
• Operating and interpreting results from material structure and thermal property analysis.
