Clinical Educator; RN

Position Overview

The Nursing Educator oversees all Health Care Staff educational needs on the WHV Medical Complex.

The Educator is an expert in Adult Learning and developing nursing skills.

Responsibilities include:

• Working closely with the Human Resources Developer.
• Mentoring and evaluating the orientation of employees, along with annual competencies and yearly training.
• Acting as a backup to the WHV Quality Assurance Clinical Assistant.
• Working 100% within the secured perimeter of a correctional facility and subject to drug and alcohol testing.

• Diploma, associate’s, bachelor’s, or master’s degree in nursing accepted for licensure by the Michigan Board of Nursing.

• Two years of experience equivalent to a Registered Nurse P11, or one year equivalent to a Registered Nurse 12.
• Possession of a master’s degree in nursing and one year of experience equivalent to a Registered Nurse 12, or possession of a bachelor’s degree in nursing and eighteen months of experience equivalent to a Registered Nurse P11, or possession of a bachelor’s degree in nursing and one year of experience equivalent to a Registered Nurse 12.
• Possession of a Michigan license in good standing as a registered nurse.

The Department of Corrections will not hire individuals who have been convicted of a felony or who have felony charges pending, in accordance with Public Act 140 of 1996. Applicants who have been convicted of a misdemeanor or felony are ineligible for employment with the Department of Corrections until satisfactory completion of any sentence imposed, including parole or probation. The Department of Corrections may screen out job applicants who have been convicted of a felony in accordance with Public Act 191 of 2017.

Position is 100% within correctional facility perimeter and requires drug/alcohol testing.
