You will report to the Plasma Center Manager and will perform as a Medical Support Specialist (Plasma Center Nurse) to support plasma center operations.
About the RoleYou will determine donor eligibility to donate plasma, manage donor adverse events, review laboratory test results, and notify donors of unsuitable test results. The Medical Support Specialist works under the guidance of the Center Manager (or Assistant Manager as applicable) and the Center Physician for medical issues. The role requires familiarity with regulations of the plasma collection industry or a manufacturing environment.
The Specialist follows guidance from Bio Life Medical Affairs and provides center‑level support for environmental, health, and safety (EHS).
- Determine donor eligibility, manage informed consent, AIDS education, confidential self‑exclusion, medical history interview, acceptance requirements, physical examination, blood testing, and review of Serological Protein Electrophoresis (SPE).
- Evaluate donor reactions as outlined in SOPs; follow SOPs for medical emergencies including development of the Center Physician’s standing orders and transporting donors to emergency care facilities.
- Refer to the Center Physician or Medical Affairs when unacceptable findings are identified or when medical/technical guidance is required, including donor safety and eligibility.
- Support HepatitisB and Seasonal Flu vaccination programs for employees.
- Manage employee incidents, determine need for further evaluation by occupational health/ER, and refer to EHS guidance regarding employee incidents.
- Act as Pandemic Coordinator when authorized by EHS and support investigations related to pandemic threats in the local community.
- High school diploma or equivalent, including a graduate‑level nursing program with state requirements.
- Currently licensed or certified in the state where responsibilities will be assigned: LPN or LVN.
- Current Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) and AED certification.
- Fulfillment of state requirements for basic IV therapy.
- Completion of FDA‑approved training for Bio Life Medical Support Specialist.
- Two years of experience in a clinical or hospital setting.

Bio Life Compensation and Benefits SummaryLocation:
USA – MI – Ypsilanti
Hourly wage range: $25.60 – $35.20 (actual wage may vary based on qualifications, experience, skills, and location). U.S. employees may be eligible for short‑term incentives and participation in medical, dental, vision insurance, a 401(k) plan with company match, disability coverage, life insurance, tuition reimbursement, paid volunteer time off, holidays, and well‑being benefits. Eligible for up to 80 hours of sick time per year and, for new hires, up to 120 hours of paid vacation.
