Job Description
Medical Support Specialist (Plasma Center Nurse) reports to the Plasma Center Manager and supports plasma center operations, ensuring donor eligibility, medical safety, and regulatory compliance.
Responsibilities- Determine donor eligibility, including informed consent management, AIDS education, confidential self‑exclusion, medical history interview, and acceptance requirements.
- Perform physical examination, blood testing, and review of laboratory results (e.g., serological protein electrophoresis).
- Evaluate donor reactions and apply SOPs for medical emergencies, including development of Center Physician standing orders and coordinating transport to emergency facilities.
- Refer to Center Physician or Medical Affairs for medical findings and donor safety questions.
- Support employee vaccination programs for Hepatitis B and seasonal flu.
- Manage employee incidents and determine further evaluation by occupational health/ER; refer to EHS guidance for incidents.
- Act as Pandemic Coordinator when authorized, supporting investigations of pandemic threats per EHS or Medical Affairs.
- High school diploma or equivalent; recognized nursing program with state licensing (LPN, LVN).
- Current state license and certification as LPN or LVN.
- Current CPR and AED certification.
- State‑approved basic IV therapy certification.
- Completion of FDA‑approved Bio Life Medical Support Specialist training.
- Minimum two years of clinical or hospital experience.
- U.S. hourly wage range: $25.60 – $35.20.
