About the role
The Medical Support Specialist (Plasma Center Nurse) reports to the Plasma Center Manager and supports plasma center operations. Responsibilities include determining donor eligibility, managing donor adverse events, reviewing laboratory test results, and notifying donors of unsuitable test results. The role provides medical oversight under the guidance of the Center Manager and Center Physician, follows plasma industry regulations, and supports center-level environmental, health, and safety (EHS) initiatives.
Howyou will contribute
- Determine donor eligibility, including informed consent management, AIDS education, self‑exclusion, medical history interview, physical examination, blood testing, and review of serological protein electrophoresis (SPE).
- Evaluate donor reactions per SOPs, following procedures for medical emergencies and coordinating with the Center Physician and emergency care facilities.
- Consult the Center Physician or Medical Affairs regarding unacceptable findings or medical/technical issues, ensuring donor safety and eligibility.
- Support the Hepatitis B and seasonal flu vaccination programs for employees as applicable.
- Manage employee incidents and determine need for further evaluation by occupational health or ER, referring to EHS guidance.
- Act as Pandemic Coordinator when authorized by EHS, supporting investigations related to pandemic threats in the local community.
- High school diploma or equivalent, including graduate equivalent of a recognized educational nursing program with state requirements.
- Current state license or certification appropriate to the assigned responsibilities (e.g., EMT‑Paramedic).
- Current CPR and AED certification.
- Fulfillment of state requirements for basic IV therapy.
- Completion of FDA‑approved training for Bio Life Medical Support Specialist.
- Minimum two years of clinical or hospital experience.
U.S. hourly wage range: $25.60 – $35.20
. The actual hourly wage will depend on qualifications, experience, skills, and location. U.S. employees may be eligible for short‑term incentives and a comprehensive benefits package that includes medical, dental, vision insurance, 401(k) plan with company match, disability coverage, life insurance, tuition reimbursement, paid volunteer time, company holidays, and well‑being benefits. U.S. employees can accrue up to 80 hours of sick time annually and up to 120 hours of paid vacation upon hire.
