Road & Rail Services is hiring an experienced Railcar Repairman to join our team in Superior Township, Michigan. This is a hands-on position for someone who knows how to weld, understands mechanical repair, and takes pride in completing safe, dependable work.

You will inspect and repair railcars to prepare them for continued service and transportation. The work is performed outdoors and requires the use of welding equipment, cutting tools, grinders, hand tools, and other mechanical equipment.

Prior railcar experience is valuable, but we will also consider candidates with strong experience in welding, metal fabrication, industrial maintenance, diesel repair, trailer repair, heavy-equipment repair, or a similar mechanical trade.

What You Will Do
Inspect railcars for damage, wear, fatigue, and serviceability
Identify repairs that can be completed by Road & Rail Services
Perform authorized railcar repairs according to customer and AAR specifications
Complete welding, cutting, grinding, fabrication, lubrication, and mechanical repair work
Accurately document inspections and completed repairs
Notify management when a railcar requires repairs outside the scope of the operation
Operate company equipment as assigned, including tractors, utility vehicles, pickup trucks, and vans
Maintain a clean and safe work area
What We Are Looking For

Qualified candidates should have previous experience in welding, fabrication, mechanical repair, or industrial maintenance.

Experience with stick welding, 4G welding, or 5G welding is strongly preferred. Candidates should also be comfortable using pipe wrenches, pry bars, ratchets, grinders, chipping tools, cutting equipment, and other industrial hand and power tools.

You must also be able to:

Perform physical work outdoors in changing weather conditions
Follow detailed safety procedures and work instructions
Climb, bend, lift, kneel, and work around heavy equipment
Maintain reliable attendance
Pass all required background and drug-screening requirements
Maintain a valid driver's license when required to operate company equipment

Starting pay is $25.46 per hour.
