AV Technician
Position Overview
A Technician is responsible for the set up and operation of basic/small‑scale audiovisual systems in a hospitality environment while ensuring complete customer satisfaction. This position reports to an Operations Manager, Operations Director, or Director of Event Technology.
Key Job ResponsibilitiesEquipment Operation
- Ensure a flawlessly executed event through accurate and timely setup, operation, and breakdown of basic audiovisual equipment.
- Strive to exceed the expectations and needs of internal and external customers.
- Maintain a positive relationship with all clients through effective communication.
- Meet with guests on site to ensure their needs are met and that the equipment setup is functioning properly.
- Monitor events and check in on customers throughout the day.
- Understand and foster the hotel/client relationship.
- Understand the technical aspects of the job and demonstrate basic operational ability to troubleshoot and problem‑solve with equipment and software issues.
- Handle equipment challenges and changes in a timely and professional manner.
- Understand company processes, follow procedures, and complete systems entry and paperwork accurately.
- Use the equipment sheets to determine the equipment scheduled for set up and strike, interacting with other staff and outside vendors as needed.
- Increase revenue by utilizing floor up‑selling techniques.
- Work with clients to finalize invoices.
- Complete order entries in Navigator as needed.
- High School Diploma required;
Associate’s degree preferred. - 1 year of customer service or hospitality experience preferred.
- 1 year of audio‑visual experience or equivalent in an educational environment preferred.
- Valid driver’s license required for team members who may operate company vehicles; additional DOT requirements may apply.

Work is performed in a hotel/convention center environment with moderate exposure to outdoor temperatures and to dirt, sand, and/or dust. Conditions vary from moderately quiet to noisy volumes. Team members use high‑end audio‑visual equipment and electrical components and may be exposed to heights via lifts and ladders. Work may include irregular hours, on‑call status, and multiple hotel locations. Appearance guidelines must be adhered to as defined by Encore.
HourlyPay Range
$15.64 – $20.33
