Carpenter - Basic

This position is responsible for providing operational support in reconstruction efforts for clients. Qualified candidates must be well grounded in the fundamentals of carpentry and tool usage. Their primary learning mode is OJT through experience and interaction with intermediate and advanced carpenters.
Basic Carpenters have three development levels: (1) improve supervisory skills from small unskilled labor crews to larger crews that include Our Client personnel and skilled subcontractors; (2) become increasingly competent with carpenter tools and Our Client equipment; and (3) develop a basic understanding of field operation tasks specific to the restoration industry. This position is Level 2 in the Progressive Carpenter track
.
Must be able to take direction from experienced carpenters and supervisors
Move and protect contents without damage
Construct appropriate containment for construction dust, dirt, and airborne contaminants in the working area
Using appropriate tools and accepted Our Client methods, perform tasks related to flood cutting, salvaging, and labeling baseboards, cabinets, doors, etc.
Develop full material knowledge as it relates to types, purposes, grades, and uses for trims, doors, and cabinetry
Develop proficiency in the installation of various forms of insulation
Develop, under supervision, knowledge of framing, trim installation, and cabinetry installation
Develop, under supervision, the ability to "dry-in" a building as it relates to roofing material installation
Learn and understand MSDS protocols for chemicals used during mitigation processes
Perform daily vehicle safety and maintenance inspections and maintain vehicles in clean, serviceable condition
Maintain attention to detail
Meet Our Client standards for safeguarding other people's property
Maintain a comprehensive understanding of customer service principles and practices
Work under time constraints to meet specific timelines
Work nights and weekends as requested and travel periodically
Report time worked and equipment and consumables used accurately and in a timely manner
Attend Our Client-sponsored operations and safety training courses as required
Coordinate a small crew of unskilled laborers on most residential projects
Answer simple questions about the project and know when to defer questions to more qualified personnel
Maintain equipment used in daily tasks
Perform emergency services as needed, including board-ups and securing buildings against further damage
Perform additional duties as required
