Overview
Job Title: Shipping and Receiving Clerk
Department: Tire and Brake Shop
Reports To: Accountable Manager
ResponsibilitiesA Shipping and Receiving Clerk is responsible for filling customer orders, maintaining inventory, receiving product, building crates, and loading and off-loading trucks. Additionally, the clerk operates forklifts and pallet jacks to perform these job functions.
- Accomplishing incoming and outgoing freight transactions accurately in accordance with established procedures.
- Verifying quantities, part numbers, descriptions, serial numbers, and conditions of inbound and outbound shipments.
- Selecting an appropriate carrier based on delivery requirements to ensure on-time, economical delivery, and being knowledgeable of common carrier terminologies to ensure accuracy of freight documents.
- Loading and unloading incoming and outgoing shipments.
- Knowledge of current computer systems, making accurate data entries in accordance with established procedures.
- Knowledge of common warehouse practices and warehouse tool operations, for example: forklifts, pallet jacks, etc.
- The organization and cleanliness of the shipping and receiving area, storage areas, and outside lot.
- Must be reliable and work well with others.
- Must be willing to learn and advance individual skills.
- Follow instructions given by the supervisor quickly and efficiently with minimum supervision.
- Required to have a valid driver s license with no suspensions.
- Must have the ability to use basic power tools.

Education and/or ExperienceHigh School diploma or GED equivalent.

The employee must occasionally lift and/or move more than 50 pounds.
- Working knowledge of personal computer, keyboard, and various software programs.
- Working knowledge of shipping processes.
