Davies Animal Medical Hospital invites 1st-3rd year veterinary students to join our expanding, private, 9-doctor small animal & urgent care team in Yuba City, California. Our externship is designed for students who want meaningful, hands‑on experience in a brand-new, state-of-the-art 16‑exam‑room facility—with mentorship that actually feels like mentorship.

We provide a full spectrum of care—from wellness and internal medicine to urgent and emergency cases—and are consistently voted “Best Veterinary Practice” in Yuba City.

Our externship is immersive, flexible, and tailored to your learning goals. You’ll have opportunities to:

• Observe and assist in GP soft tissue surgery, dentistry, and urgent care cases
  Participate in case workups, diagnostics, and treatment planning
• Hone technical skills: IV catheter placement, venipuncture, etc.
• Learn real‑world workflow, efficiency, and client communication in private practice
  Work alongside a collaborative 9‑doctor team with a strong teaching culture

Explore both general practice and urgent care medicine in one setting

• General Practice, Urgent care, soft tissue surgery, regenerative medicine, orthopedic surgery with a Board‑Certified Surgeon
• Digital full‑body & digital dental radiography
• Full IDEXX in‑house lab (CBC, Catalyst, Sedivue, Coags)
• Ultrasound
• Companion IV Therapeutic Laser, PRP
• Snyder oxygen ICU cages

• Are a 1st- 3rd year veterinary student at an AVMA‑accredited program at Western
  
  U or UC Davis or are local to greater Sacramento Area
• Love (or want more exposure to) surgery and urgent care
• Have a growth mindset and enjoy asking questions
• Value teamwork, mentorship, and a supportive learning environment
• Want exposure to high‑quality private practice medicine without corporate pressure
