PT Park Maintenance Laborer

Overview

GENERAL PURPOSE Assists in the maintenance and cleaning of the City of Yukon parks, facility grounds, and green spaces.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

The following duties are not intended to serve as a comprehensive list of all duties performed by all employees in this classification, only a representative summary of the primary duties and responsibilities. Incumbent(s) may not be required to perform all duties listed and may be required to perform additional duties.

• Mows, weed eats, and edges City parks and City buildings
• Works with various tools including mowers, weed eaters, shovels, rakes, and other tools in the care of City parks
• Cleans up trash in the parks
• Assists with park projects under the supervision of the Parks Superintendent
• Performs other duties as assigned in the care for city parks

• 16 years of age or older
• Availability to work throughout the summer, which runs from late May to early August
• Willingness to learn and prioritize safety
• Ability to work individually and on a team
• Exhibits responsibility when using City equipment

• Previous experience and knowledge related to mowing, weed eating, edging, and general landscaping in flower beds
• On-the-job training provided for all employees
• Valid driver’s license

• Must be in good physical condition
• Good vision to be able to watch for emergency situations in and around work areas
• Works in a variety of weather conditions including heat, cold, rain, and wind for long periods of time
• Exposure to allergy causing agents
• Subject to sitting, standing, and walking for extended periods of time
• Exposed to intermittent or continued loud and insistent noises
• Exposed to slippery and uneven surfaces
• Must have strength to lift, push, pull or carry objects weighing 25 pounds or more
• Mobility to frequently move one's body from place to place
• Hearing and speech to communicate clearly and distinctly in English, by telephone and in person, within the confinement of a semi-noisy environment
