Maintenance Technician / Mechanic, Heavy Equipment Mechanic
This classification is a safety-sensitive position as defined by the United States Department of Transportation drug and alcohol testing regulations and/or the Oklahoma Standards for Workplace Drug and Alcohol Testing Act. As a safety-sensitive classification, you will be subject to drug and alcohol testing, including random testing. Marijuana is one of the substances included in the drug panel screening. Possession of a medical marijuana certification will not excuse you from the testing process, or the consequences of testing positive for marijuana.
GENERALDESCRIPTION OF POSITION
Performs a variety of skilled and unskilled tasks on City vehicles and equipment and maintain a GREAT working relationship with other departments and co-workers daily.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIESTo perform this job successfully, the candidate must possess the following qualifications.

EQUIPMENT AND MACHINE USECandidate must have the capability to use and to learn to use all equipment in a standard Fleet maintenance garage.
WORKING CONDITIONS- Primarily indoors.
- Subject to exposure to the outside environment wherein there are disagreeable working conditions, some of the time.
- Subject to frequent to high to low‑level to loud inside/outside noise.
- Subject to working irregular work days if needed.
- Moving mechanical parts.
- Heights between 10’ to 40’ high.
- Exhaust and possible chemical exposure.
This is not an all-inclusive list; there are other conditions that the candidate will need to adapt to day to day operations, which at times can be unpredictable.
PHYSICAL ACTIVITIES- Walking, bending, stooping, crawling, being on your hands and knees.
- Finger dexterity enough to operate equipment such as a smartphone, personal keyboard.
- Near vision enough to read and review smartphone screen and computer generated work orders.
- Speech and hearing enough to communicate clearly and distinctly in person and by telephone.
- Primarily indoor garage environment; occasionally working in an office setting.
- Flexible enough to use hands and arms to grab, hold, reach, etc.
- Strength to lift and/or move up to 100 lbs; frequently lift and/or move up to 50 lbs.
- Driving assigned vehicle.
