Description
This classification is a safety-sensitive position as defined by the United States Department of Transportation drug and alcohol testing regulations and/or the Oklahoma Standards for Workplace Drug and Alcohol Testing Act. As a safety-sensitive classification, you will be subject to drug and alcohol testing, including random testing. Marijuana is one of the substances included in the drug panel screening. Possession of a medical marijuana certification will not excuse you from the testing process or the consequences of testing positive for marijuana.
GeneralDescription
Candidate will perform day to day maintenance and restoration work in the construction and operations of the City of Yukon’s streets, signal lights and storm drainage facilities. It is expected that the candidate will display an EXCEPTIONAL ATTITUDE daily and show an uncompromising willingness to cooperate and treat fellow employees with respect.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities- Routine inspection and preventive maintenance on assigned equipment
- Patching, painting and repairing of streets, curbs and signal lights
- Cleaning of drainage structures
- Mowing and edging of street easements
- Clearing of roads when needed
- Snow and ice prevention and removal operations (may be required to work nights)
- Installation and repair of street signs
- Operating and maintaining small engine equipment
- Physically demanding; lifting objects of 100 lbs or less, bending, kneeling and stopping for long periods of time
- Perform any other related duties as required or assigned
- Committed to maintaining a safe, clean and fun work environment
- Be on time and ready to work

- Cooperation with fellow workers
- Excellent problem solving skills

Education and Experience- High school diploma or GED
- No experience needed; must be willing to learn new things
Valid Oklahoma Driver’s License
Preferred Certificates, Licenses, RegistrationsClass A/B CDL – should be obtained within the first year of employment
Equipment and Machine UseCandidate must have the capability to use and learn to use all equipment within the street department.
Working ConditionsCandidate will be exposed to the following conditions:
- Outdoor weather conditions ranging from freezing to extremely hot
- Moving mechanical parts
- Heights between 10’ to 40’ high
- Toxic or caustic chemicals
- Wet or humid conditions
- Loud noises and other conditions
- Health and dental insurance – the employer pays 100% for full-time employees.
- Accidental death/dismemberment & life insurance – 100% premium paid by the City; life insurance equals salary rounded to next $1,000.
- Short-term disability coverage.
- Birthday check – 40 hours pay for the week and a day off for your birthday during the pay period.
- CDL license incentive – $250 to $500 paid in September each year.
- College degree incentives:
Associates degree – $800 annually, Bachelor's degree – $1,400 annually, Master's degree – $2,000 annually, Certification pay – $800 annually (requires City Manager approval and CEUs). - Health and dental insurance – 100% coverage for full-time employees, optional dependents at employee cost.
- Holidays – 14 paid holidays per year.
- Longevity pay – $16.00 per month after fourth year of service.
- Retirement – Defined Contribution Plan: 5% employee contribution;
City contributes 10% per paycheck; vesting period 7 years. - Share the Savings – $235 per quarter if you opt out of City insurance (eligible dependents required).
- Sick leave – 8 hours per month, usable after 6 continuous months.
- Vacation leave – 8 hours per month for first 9 years, usable after 6 months.
- Water license incentive – $25 to $100 paid in March each year.
