Salary: $15.15 per hour
Summary of Function: Supports daily operations of the Matador Activity Center and campus student engagement activities by providing front-line customer service, monitoring shared spaces and equipment, assisting with event logistics and promotion, and maintaining participation records.
Typical Duties:
- Serves Students. Provides customer service at the Matador Activity Center (MAC) front desk. Manages check-in/check-out for pool cues, ping pong paddles, board games, electronic items, and creates Student IDs. Answers phones, opens and closes spaces, and conducts regular safety walkthroughs. Helps ensure proper and respectful use of shared spaces and supports a welcoming atmosphere.
- Assists with setup and takedown of student engagement events in the MAC and across campus. Duties include setting up furniture, managing AV equipment, assisting with deliveries, greeting attendees, helping during events, and supporting event space scheduling and check-outs.
- Helps maintain the safety and proper use of the MAC. Remains alert to incidents such as vandalism, theft, or emergencies, and reports to staff or Campus Police. Helps implement emergency procedures and ensures compliance with building policies to protect spaces, students, and equipment.
- Collaborates with the Coordinator to share information about upcoming student events and activities. Helps create and distribute flyers, updates bulletin boards or digital screens, and supports basic marketing tasks. Assists with gathering participation data and generating simple usage or engagement reports.
- Support and participate in strategic planning initiatives and perform other duties as assigned.
Required Qualifications:
- High School Diploma or Equivalency
- 2-3 years’ customer service experience
- Bilingual English/Spanish preferred but not required; language proficiency must be demonstrated on application materials
- An equivalent combination of education and/or experience from which comparable knowledge, skills, and abilities have been achieved may be considered

- Up to 19 hours per week
- Work flexible schedule to meet the program, department, and/or institutional needs, which may include Fridays, nights, and/or weekends
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
- Knowledge of and ability to interpret, apply, and follow college policies and procedures
- Knowledge of or ability to maintain organizational structure, workflow, and operating procedures
- Skill in current technologies and word processing, database, presentation, and spreadsheet software, specifically Microsoft Office applications, Windows, college system platforms, software, and applications especially those specific to the department operations
- Skill and ability to be self-directed and to manage one’s own time
- Skill in performing a variety of duties, often changing from one task to another of a different nature
- Skill in providing front-line customer service across in-person, phone, and virtual environments
- Skill in coordinating logistics for programs, events, and services
- Skill in maintaining accurate records and inventories
- Ability to complete all departmental and/or institutional mandatory training or development
- Ability to organize, prioritize, follow multiple projects and tasks through to completion, with close attention to detail
- Ability to work independently and contribute to a collaborative team environment
- Ability to provide assistance in a professional, civil, and supportive manner
- Ability to communicate effectively, verbally, in writing, and in a public setting, and to relate to others in a professional manner
- Ability to be flexible and supportive, positively and proactively assimilate change in rapid growth environment
