Future Instructor Training (FIT) Intern (Non-NOCCCD employees)
Open Date: 06/02/2026 | Close Date: 07/16/2026
Position Start: 01/01/2027 | Position End: 06/30/2027
- Attend and observe the mentor’s classroom for at least one hour per week.
- Teach a minimum number of lessons/class sessions under the mentor’s supervision, pursuant to the mentor‑intern agreement.
- Attend mentor‑intern meetings once a week, with a minimum of two hours per month.
- Attend intern cohort group session meetings.
- Maintain a record of activities, including a reflective journal to be submitted and reviewed by the committee.
- Attend four mandatory training seminars, each 1–4 hours in length.
- Attend a completion ceremony/graduation at the end of the semester.
- Demonstrated interest in infusing class content and teaching style with diversity, inclusion, multiculturalism, equity, and/or social justice.
- Interns must have completed at least 75% of their advanced academic education or training, on track to graduate degree (academic fields) or terminal credential (vocational fields).
- No prior community college teaching experience required.
- Strong commitment to diversity: demonstrated sensitivity to and understanding of diverse academic, socioeconomic, cultural, disability, gender, gender‑identity, sexual‑orientation, and ethnic backgrounds of community college students, faculty, and staff, and ability to relate personal experience to the position’s goals.
- Non‑NOCCCD employee.
- Eligible to work in the United States; NOCCCD will not sponsor any visa applications.
- Ability to perform the essential functions of this position with or without reasonable accommodations.
Stipend up to $1,000.
