Job Description

Qualifications:

  • Valid Arizona Substitute Teaching Certificate
  • Valid Class One Fingerprint Clearance Card
  • High School Diploma
  • Official College Transcripts

Reports To: Building Principal

Job Goal: To enable each child to pursue his education as smoothly and completely as possible in the absence of his regular teacher.

Performance Responsibilities:

  • Reports to the school secretary upon arrival at the school building.
  • Reviews all plans and schedules to be followed during the teaching day.
  • Maintains as fully as possible the established routines and procedures of the school and classroom to which assigned.
  • Teaches the lesson outlined and described in the Substitute Teacher's Folder as prepared by the absent teacher.
  • Consults as appropriate with the building principal before initiating any teaching or other procedures not specified in the Substitute Teacher's Folder.
  • Assumes responsibility for overseeing pupil behavior in class and during lunch and recess periods.
  • Reports in writing on the day's activities at the conclusion of each teaching day.
  • Follows all policies, rules, and procedures to which regular teachers are subject and which good teaching practice dictates.
  • To perform other duties that may be necessary to assign.
  • Terms of Employment: Employment based upon need. Salary and benefits as established by the Board.

    Evaluation: Evaluation of this position will be performed by the teacher and principal in accordance with the Board's policy on evaluation of personnel.

    Pay Rates: $140 to $234 per Substitute

    All teachers and individuals who are required to be fingerprinted to work in the classroom are required to have an Identity Verified Prints (IVP) fingerprint clearance card. To apply for a fingerprint clearance card, please  IVP Fingerprint Process Link
