Position Highlights:
Yuma County Office of Cooperative Extension of the University of Arizona seeks to fill the role Extension Professional III (Associate in Extension, Horticulture). The purpose of the Horticulture program is to provide education and support on how to select, grow and care for horticultural and landscape plants in the desert southwest. This program also highlights and provides information and education on the various vegetable crops grown in the area.
The program utilizes a greenhouse, two demonstration gardens, workshops, classes, tours, clinics, and a Master Gardener course to provide information and education. The program also helps people identify and address issues they encounter while growing and caring for plants. This position will assist with the Master Gardener course that is offered each year which provides certification for individuals wishing to become certified volunteers.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
Extensive knowledge of extension theory and practice, program evaluation, and community engagement strategies. Skill in leading complex, cross-unit projects and integrating research into practical programming. Strong analytical skills for designing assessments, interpreting data, and drawing evidence-based conclusions. Advanced written and verbal communication skills, including scholarly writing and presentations to both technical and non-technical audiences. Ability to build and sustain strategic partnerships and to lead project teams or small groups of staff and volunteers.
Ability to work independently, manage multiple large projects, and make informed decisions within broad guidelines.
Minimum Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree or equivalent advanced learning attained through professional level experience. Minimum of 5 years of relevant work experience, or equivalent combination of education and work experience. Must have the ability to obtain a driver's license, provide their own transportation, be able to travel statewide using all modes of transportation and have ability to drive according to the University Fleet Safety Policy.
Compensation: $53,039 - $66,299
