Job Description Qualifications

Valid Emergency, Elementary or Secondary Arizona teaching certificate and appropriate endorsements as required.

Reports To: Building Principal

Job Goal: To help students learn subject matter and skills that will contribute to their development as mature, able, and responsible men and women.

Performance Responsibilities
  • Meet and instruct assigned classes at designated locations and specific times.
  • Plan a program of study that, as much as possible, meets the individual needs, interests, and abilities of the students.
  • Create a classroom environment conducive to learning and appropriate to the maturity and interests of the students.
  • Prepare for assigned classes and provide written evidence of preparation upon request of immediate superior.
  • Encourage students to set and maintain standards of classroom behavior.
  • Guide the learning process toward the achievement of curriculum goals, establish clear objectives for all lessons, units, projects, and the like, and communicate these objectives to students.
  • Employ a variety of instructional techniques and instructional media consistent with the physical limitations of the provided location and the needs and capabilities of the individuals or student groups involved.
  • Strive to implement, by instruction and action, the district's philosophy of education and instructional goals and objectives.
  • Assess the accomplishments of students regularly and provide progress reports as required.
  • Recognize and evaluate the learning and other disabilities of students regularly; seek assistance or referral of district specialists as required.
  • Takes all necessary and reasonable precautions to protect students, equipment, materials, and facilities.
  • Maintain accurate, complete, and correct records as required by law, district policy, and administrative regulation.
  • Assist the administration in implementing all policies and rules governing student life and conduct and, for the classroom, develop reasonable rules of classroom behavior and procedure and maintain order in a fair and just manner.
  • Make provision for being available to students and parents for education‑related purposes outside the instructional day when required or requested under reasonable terms.
  • Plan and supervise purposeful assignments for teacher aide(s) and volunteer(s).
  • Strive to maintain and improve professional competence.
  • Attend requisite staff meetings and serve on staff committees as needed.
  • Perform other necessary duties as assigned.
Terms of Employment

Teacher's contract. Salary and benefits as established by the Board.

Evaluation: Evaluation of this position will be performed by the principal/qualified evaluator in accordance with the Board's policy on evaluation of certified personnel.

Note:

  • Performance Pay is composed of a "highly effective" rating as a teacher and completion of professional development hours as defined in the Classroom Site Fund Plan (Prop 301). "Ineffective" or "Developing" teachers should review Classroom Site Fund for earnings estimate.
  • Instructional Improvement is subject to annual Governing Board approval.
  • Starting salary on job posting includes base salary and supplemental pay the teacher is eligible for but must meet plan criteria.
