Purpose StatementThe Preschool Coordinator/Instructional Coach provides assistance to the preschool department to maintain compliance with state and federal mandates regarding general and special education; serves as a resource to others; coordinates assigned program components; and implements and maintains services within established guidelines and standards.
This position reports to the Director of Preschool.
Essential Functions- Assists in developing procedures for identification, referral, evaluation, multidisciplinary conferencing, placement, and re‑evaluation of students with special needs to deliver services in compliance with established guidelines and regulatory requirements.
- Collaborates with principals, general‑ed teachers, parents, and ESS teachers to ensure compliance with state and federal guidelines for assessments, evaluations, and IEPs.
- Coordinates program components, support needs and material (e.g., ESY program, collection and reporting of ECERS, CLASS, MTS/TSG data, intervention program to supplement general classroom instruction for all students) to deliver services that conform to established guidelines.
- Facilitates meetings and processes (eg. IEP meetings, training/development/implementation of 504 plans, general and special education curriculum) to implement and maintain programs that achieve district objectives.
- Implements assigned programs and projects (eg. CPI training for Gen Ed, ESS teachers and paraprofessionals, ESY) to conform to district and state curriculum and instructional objectives.
- Prepares program‑mandated reports (eg. principal documentation report for IEP compliance, ADHS compliance, MTS/TSG compliance, ECERS, CLASS, documentation of follow‑up of exceptional students served in Residential Treatment Centers, homebound or Alternative School) to ensure ongoing funding by complying with program requirements.
- Presents information on topics (eg. CPI, implementation of 504 and IEP plans, professional development for Gen Ed and ESS teachers in curriculum and special education legal requirements) to implement and maintain programs that achieve district objectives.
- Researches topics (eg. current practices, policies, education codes, state and federal legal requirements governing general/special education) to provide information, recommendations, and address program requirements.
- Serves as a resource and mentor to Gen Ed and ESS staff for explaining procedures, conveying and receiving information needed for planning, developing, and evaluating services.
- Supports site principals, classroom teachers, paraprofessionals, therapists, etc. by assisting them in implementing instruction, intervention, and treatment techniques or individual student plans.
- Performs other related duties as assigned to ensure efficient and effective functioning of the work unit.

Responsibilities include working under limited supervision, guiding and coordinating others, operating within a defined budget, utilizing resources from other units.
Working Environment requires occasional lifting, carrying, pushing, stooping, kneeling, crouching, and fine finger dexterity; 60% sitting, 20% walking, 20% standing in a hazard‑free, clean environment.
ExperienceJob‑related experience is required.
EducationBachelor's degree in a job‑related area.
