PT - Child Development Learning Laboratory (CDLL) Teacher Aide Summary of Function:
Helps the CDLL lead teachers plan, coordinate, and implement activities for children. Supervises children in the classroom, on the playground, and on field trips.
Typical Duties:- Serves Students. Prepares materials required to implement daily plans and welcomes students observing or volunteering at the CDLL
- Supervise and maintain a safe, healthy, nurturing, and orderly physical environment conducive to the optimal growth and development of children.
- Establish and nurture a relationship between home and the center that clearly acknowledges that parents are the most important influence on a child’s life. This should include greeting both children and parents each day and putting messages in children’s mailboxes as necessary.
- Model and maintain confidentiality inside and outside of the classroom setting regarding children, parents, staff, students, and volunteers. Following guidelines established by center policies and articulated by the center’s director
- Work cooperatively with the head teacher, other assistant teachers, and the director. Work together as a member of a team for the well-being of the center and the children.
- Continue professional development through ongoing in-service opportunities, conferences, coursework, and/or literature.
- Supports and participates in strategic planning initiatives and performs other duties as assigned.
- High School Diploma or equivalent
- Relevant experience working with children (I.e., Preschool group care experience in a center, family home childcare, or school-related work)
- Experience working in an Arizona Department of Health Services (ADHS) licensed daycare center
- Child Development Associate (CDA)
- College coursework in Early Child Education
- An equivalent combination of education and/or experience from which comparable knowledge, skills, and abilities have been achieved may be considered
- Tuberculosis Test
- Minimum of 18 hours of annual professional development
- Non-Exempt
Work Schedule:
- Part-time
- Up to19 hours per week
- Hours may vary based on the teacher-child ratio
- Attend staff meetings and training as directed
- Work flexible schedule to meet the program, department, and/or institutional needs, which may include Fridays, nights, and/or weekends
- Knowledge of and ability to interpret, apply, and follow college policies and procedures
- Knowledge of or ability to maintain organizational structure, workflow, and operating procedures
- Skill in current technologies and word processing, database, presentation, and spreadsheet software, specifically Microsoft Office applications, Windows, college system platforms, software, and applications, especially those specific to the department operations
- Skill and ability to be self-directed and to manage one’s own time
- Ability to complete all departmental and/or institutional mandatory training or development
- Ability to organize, prioritize, and follow multiple projects and tasks through to completion, with close attention to detail
- Ability to prepare classroom materials to implement daily plans
- Ability to work independently and contribute to a collaborative team environment
- Ability to provide assistance in a professional and supportive manner
- Ability to communicate effectively, verbally, in writing, and in a public setting, and to relate to others in a professional manner
- Ability to maintain confidentiality of protected information and follow FERPA guidelines
- Ability to demonstrate integrity, professionalism, and civility in all job-related actions
