Position: Aviation Life Support System (ALSS) Technician, Supervisor/Site Lead

Job Description

We are seeking a skilled Aviation Life Support System Technician to lead our team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for ensuring the safe and efficient operation of aircraft through meticulous maintenance and repair procedures.

Contract Duration

The contract shall commence on 01 August 2024 and shall continue 01 August 2025. The period of performance may be extended in accordance with the option provisions.

Responsibilities
  • Supervise the CH-53E/K, V-22, UH-1Y, AH-1Z, C-130J, F-18C/D, AV-8B, and F-35B/C O-Level maintenance tasks, including troubleshooting, removal, installation, repair, inspection, and documentation of egress and escape systems, inflatable systems, emergency radio systems, survival items, personal equipment, pyrotechnics, and related ordnance.
  • Accept and transfer egress, escape, inflatable, emergency radio systems, flight clothing, survival items, pyrotechnics, CADS/PADS, aircrew breathing systems, and support equipment.
  • Fit, manufacture, troubleshoot, remove, install, repair, inspect, and document flight clothing.
  • Handle stowage and safety precautions for pyrotechnics, CADS/PADS, and related ordnance, and aircrew breathing systems.
  • Perform pre‑flight preparations, including pre‑positioning support equipment and flight gear, to ensure aircrew equipment readiness for daily flight schedules and fleet support periods.
  • Conduct pre‑/post‑operational checks and operation of support equipment, including conditional, scheduled inspections, and periodic maintenance, performing activities multiple times daily as required.
  • Perform and support corrosion control, ensuring aircraft components, ALSS gear, and SE services meet inspection standards per governing directives.
  • Execute corrosion prevention and treatment measures per applicable directives, inspecting ALSS for tools and foreign objects that could risk aircraft or aircrew.
  • Carry out assigned scheduled and unscheduled maintenance on flight equipment as coordinated by the Squadron and/or designated Maintenance Control Government representative, following maintenance manuals for assigned aircraft and equipment.
  • Perform inspection, disassembly, repair, servicing, TD compliance, modification, assembly, surface finish removal, corrosion control, and preservation/ de‑preservation services.
Job Requirements
  • For an ALSS Supervisor, a minimum of 15 years of Navy/Marines Maintenance experience is required.
  • Minimum of 5 years Navy/Marines Maintenance experience.
  • Completion of Navy PR “A” school or equivalent service school.
  • Intermediate‑level experience as an Aircrew Survival Equipment Mechanic is preferred.
  • Applicable training, qualifications, and certifications required to perform services as indicated in the Naval Aviation Maintenance Program, COMNAVAIRFORINST 4790.2 Series and Class V Ammunition and Explosive Material requirements.
  • Current and medically qualified per NAVMED P-117 standards to maintain night vision systems.
  • Extensive understanding of United States Marine Corps aviation activities and routine training exposure.
  • Comprehensive knowledge of aircraft systems and capabilities across all U.S. service branches, U.S. allies, and other military or contracted aircraft inventories.
  • Secret Clearance or ability to obtain one.
  • Ability to obtain and maintain a CAC Card.
  • Certifications/Licensing as required by the Program Training and Certification Manual.
  • Pass periodic medical surveillance evaluations, including respirator fit testing when required.
  • Physical requirements will be reviewed with the applicant during the interview.
