The RoleWorks under general supervision performing a variety of skilled tasks pertaining to the installation, operation, and maintenance of water and wastewater facilities, while continuing to develop the education and skills needed to achieve Arizona Department of Environmental Quality (ADEQ) certifications.

Essential duties and responsibilities may include, but are not limited to, the following:
- Compile records and reports in accordance with State and Federal rules and regulations
- Analyze data and perform mathematical calculations following laboratory procedures to make operational adjustments
- Communicate effectively with management and other operators at a technical level appropriate for the role
- Follow all safety policies and participate in specialized training for hazardous materials handling and confined space entry
- Perform daily operation and testing of wastewater treatment facilities
- Assist with utility construction activities, including excavation, pipe installation, and system testing
- Operate equipment used in water/wastewater operations, including but not limited to backhoes, dump trucks, loaders, sewer flushing equipment, and excavators
- Support planning and design efforts for water and wastewater projects
- Ensure compliance with all State and Federal regulations governing water/wastewater operations
- Perform maintenance and repair of water and wastewater systems, facilities, and grounds
- Comply with Company policies, procedures, and safety standards
- Comply with Company grooming and uniform standards
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Valid Arizona driver's license; CDL with tanker and air brake endorsements preferred or ability to obtain within 12 months of hire
- Ability to safely lift a minimum of 50 pounds
- Ability to use respirators and self-contained breathing apparatus
- Ability to access confined spaces such as trenches, manholes, lift stations, reservoirs, and towers
- Must possess or be able to obtain an ADEQ Class II certification in one of the following areas:
- Water Distribution
- Wastewater Collections
- Wastewater Treatment
- Maintain required continuing education units (CEUs) to support ADEQ certification requirements
- Ability to work weekends, variable shifts, and participate in on-call rotation as needed
- Work is performed on location at Foothills Utilities water or wastewater facilities and infrastructure
- This position requires participation in a rotating on-call schedule, including evenings, weekends, and holidays. Candidates must be available to respond to emergency and time-sensitive situations outside of regular working hours, often with short notice.
