SummaryThe Patient Access Counselor is responsible for facilitating a positive patient experience through coordination and advocacy during receipt, pre‑registration, registration, scheduling and other interactions throughout the patient stay.
Responsibilities- Facilitate patient registration, pre‑registration, scheduling, and other intake processes.
- Assist with identification, demographics collection, insurance verification, eligibility, and financial counseling.
- Coordinate with patients, families, and outside agencies for Medicaid, AHCCCS, Marketplace, and YRMC Financial Assistance.
- Maintain patient access and revenue cycle work queues.
- Perform financial counseling, collect payments, and process billing information.
- Verify insurance and authorization documentation; contact third‑party payers.
- Collect, post, and reconcile financial transactions, maintain cash drawer and deposits.
- Complete administrative tasks such as COA, Medicare, Tricare paperwork, and required signatures.
- Ensure electronic health record documentation is complete and up to date.
- Complete continuous education and follow‑up activities related to financial programs.
- Other duties as assigned.
- High School Diploma or GED.
- Minimum 2+ years related experience.
- Essential:
Arizona Fingerprint Clearance. - Knowledge of third‑party payer regulations, ICD‑10, CPT, HCPCS.
