The LIS Analyst is responsible for the configuration, maintenance, optimization, and support of the Laboratory Information System. This role ensures that laboratory workflows, interfaces, and data processes operate efficiently and accurately to support patient care, regulatory requirements, and operational goals. The LIS Analyst serves as a liaison between laboratory departments, IT, vendors, and clinical staff.
Responsibilities- System Configuration & Maintenance:
Configure, test, and maintain LIS modules, dictionaries, tables, rules, and workflows. Manage system updates, patches, releases, and validation activities. Maintain system documentation, change logs, and configuration standards. - Interfaces & Instrument Connectivity:
Work with middleware and interface engines (e.g., Rhapsody, Cloverleaf, Mirth, HL7). Support the integration and validation of laboratory instruments and analyzers. Coordinate with vendors and IT teams on interface development and troubleshooting. - Data Quality, Reporting & Compliance:
Ensure data integrity, audit readiness, and compliance with CLIA, CAP, and HIPAA. Develop and maintain reports, dashboards, and data extracts as needed. Support quality assurance, proficiency testing, and regulatory inspections. - Other duties as assigned.
- Associate’s Degree in Information Systems
- Bachelor’s degree in Information Systems, Laboratory Science, Healthcare IT, or related field (or equivalent experience) (Preferred)
- 3–5 years of experience as an LIS Analyst, Medical Technologist, or Healthcare IT Analyst.
- Strong understanding of clinical laboratory workflows (chemistry, hematology, microbiology, blood bank, pathology).
- Knowledge of HL7, interface engines, and instrument connectivity.
- EPIC Certification
