Position: Court Information Technology Director (Grade 25)

This position is advertised from the minimum to the mid-point hourly rate. Salary will be determined based on education and experience at the time of offer.

NATURE OF WORK

Under general direction, manages Information Technology (IT) infrastructure, functions and staff to provide stable, secure and reliable technical support services for the Superior Court in Yuma County; evaluates IT system capabilities and recommends system management and expansion strategies; manages contracts, planning and meetings on all IT issues with vendors, the Administrative Office of the Courts, Yuma County departments, and other regional entities.

RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Manage IT operations, assign and coordinate projects.
  • Serve as primary advisor to court on IT systems and services.
  • Recommend methods and strategies to improve overall management, development and deployment of technology systems.
  • Ensure functionality, compatibility and performance of court IT systems.
  • Respond to needs and inquiries of users, explain IT issues, develop and deploy solutions.
  • Monitor IT budget, including development, management and forecasting expenditures.
  • Identify and assess automation and information needs.
  • Coordinate the establishment of guidelines and programs for effective IT management.
  • Lead planning, feasibility analysis, product evaluation, problem resolution, resource coordination and other meetings.
  • Coordinate continuous development, operation and maintenance of IT systems, including databases, hardware, software and system design.
  • Manage development and integration of application software and security solutions.
  • Plan and develop IT solutions, monitor operations, recommend policies to assure data privacy and security.
  • Resolve user problems and provide support for software.
  • Identify training needs, develop and provide training programs.
  • Review trends and changes in technology industry; determine viable applications to improve court operations.
  • Develop cost estimates and implementation schedules; consult with management staff on IT needs, problems and solutions.
  • Provide leadership and guidance to IT staff, develop priorities, assign tasks and projects.
  • Monitor work and evaluate staff performance.
  • Identify and recommend methods to improve management and operation of court work processes, system responsiveness, use of judicial resources and quality service delivery.
  • Perform related duties as required or assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS

Bachelor's degree in computer science, Computer Information Systems or a closely related field; AND five years of progressively responsible experience in managing IT systems, including system development and design, and network management; including three (3) years of supervisory experience; OR any equivalent combination of experience and/or education that demonstrates comparable knowledge, skills and abilities.

Additional requirements:

applicant must pass extensive criminal background checks; possess a valid Arizona State Driver’s License; and hold yearly accreditation from Arizona Committee on Judicial Education and Training (COJET).

  • Digital and video data communications principles, practices and restrictions.
  • Legal terminology, court operations and procedures.
