Job DescriptionUnder the direction of the Director of Technology & Information Security, the Information Technology (IT) Security & Compliance Analyst will oversee, coordinate, and enforce Information Security & Disaster Recovery efforts and protocols for the Crane Elementary School District. Responsibilities include installing, configuring, and monitoring security systems, analyzing enterprise information security, and ensuring compliance with the Arizona Auditor General and other regulations.
The role also involves implementing security policies, procedures, and standards, and leading governance initiatives aligned with the Crane Schools Leadership Mission.
- Protect information technology assets by establishing and enforcing system access controls.
- Monitor and audit for unauthorized access; revoke access as needed and report violations.
- Analyze IT systems for unusual behavior or breaches, respond to incidents, and report status to management.
- Ensure network security devices and measures operate correctly; perform periodic audits and risk assessments.
- Conduct security monitoring, testing, prevention, and remediation activities to mitigate district risks.
- Develop and manage the security awareness program, provide training, and maintain ongoing communication.
- Provide reports and monitor internet usage compliance, reporting violations of district policy.
- Collaborate with Information Services and vendors to audit, mitigate risks, and compile network and security reports for leadership.
- Ensure compliance with IT security standards such as NIST, HIPAA, PCI DSS, COPPA, FERPA, etc.
- Create and maintain compliance policies and procedures, cyber incident response plans, and education materials.
- Maintain current compliance documentation required by the Arizona Auditor General.
- Design, evaluate, and modify IT compliance controls (e.g., DLP, MDM, encryption) across all resources.
- Coordinate disaster recovery exercises and maintain updated business continuity plans.
- Assist in selecting new technologies and manage RFP development, vendor negotiations, and contract management.
- Plan and implement information security technologies for efficient, cost‑effective solutions.
- Represent the district with professionalism, uphold confidentiality, and maintain safety standards.
- Manage work orders and task requests using IT management tools.
- Troubleshoot, communicate, and resolve IT security problems promptly.
- Perform routine and emergency software, firmware, and hardware updates.
- Provide on‑call support for security incidents during evenings, weekends, and holidays.
- Bachelor’s degree in computer science focused on IT security and one of the following entry‑level certifications:
Security+, MTA Security Fundamentals, ISC2 CC; plus at least two years of experience in an IT technical role. - Alternatively, three years of experience in an IT security‑related technical role may substitute for a bachelor's degree.
- Equivalent education, training, and experience are acceptable.
- IT best practices for policies, procedures, standards, and guidelines.
- IT security and compliance standards, including Arizona Criminal Justice Information Systems, HIPAA, PCI DSS, IRS 1074, PII, FIPS, and NIST.
- Enterprise software and operating systems in large IT environments (ERP, public safety, asset/fleet, CMS, video, proximity).
- Logging (SIEM) and security methodologies, patch management, and mobile technologies.
- Enterprise data backup best practices, business continuity, and disaster recovery planning.
- Cyber‑incident planning and response best practices.
- System hardening, vulnerability assessment, security audits, and incident response.
- Problem‑solving for complex or ambiguous situations.
- Handling sensitive and confidential information.
- Customer support assessment and risk‑mitigating solutions.
- Leadership, teamwork, presentation, and people‑management skills.
- Independent judgment within procedural guidelines to mitigate risks.
- Adaptability in a technical environment with shifting priorities.
- Positive relationships with coworkers.
- Effective verbal and written communication, including explaining technical concepts to non‑technical audiences.
- Good driving record.
Standard office environment, with the ability to lift up to 50 pounds, bend, stoop, crawl, and navigate tight spaces. Requires use of hands and eye‑hand coordination for close‑range work.
