Summary

The Epic Ambulatory Application Manager is responsible for overseeing the implementation, optimization, support, and maintenance of the Epic Ambulatory module and related clinical systems. This role leads a team of analysts and specialists to ensure that the application meets clinical, operational, and regulatory requirements. The manager collaborates closely with clinical leaders, IT staff, and Epic representatives to align system functionality with organizational goals and best practices.

Responsibilities
  • Leadership & Management: Lead, mentor, and develop a team of Epic-certified Ambulatory analysts and application specialists. Manage day-to-day operations, workload distribution, and staff performance. Establish and maintain project timelines, resource plans, and budgets for Ambulatory-related initiatives. Ensure adherence to change management and governance processes.
  • Application Management & Optimization: Oversee build, configuration, and maintenance of the Epic Ambulatory application, including provider templates, order sets, workflows, and integrations with ancillary systems. Lead optimization efforts to improve clinical workflows, documentation efficiency, and user satisfaction. Coordinate software upgrades, testing, and system maintenance with Epic and other IT teams. Ensure data integrity, privacy, and compliance with HIPAA and other regulatory standards.
  • Collaboration & Stakeholder Engagement: Partner with clinical leadership, operations, and other IT teams to identify system and workflow improvement opportunities. Serve as the primary liaison between end users and the Epic technical teams. Participate in governance committees and represent Ambulatory interests in enterprise-wide initiatives. Develop strong relationships with Epic representatives and external vendors.
  • Reporting & Continuous Improvement: Monitor system performance, user feedback, and ticket resolution metrics. Provide regular updates and reports on project progress, system health, and performance metrics to leadership. Stay current with Epic’s software releases, best practices, and emerging healthcare IT trends. Other duties as assigned.
Minimum Requirements
  • Bachelor’s degree in healthcare information technology, computer science, health administration, nursing, or a related field.
  • 5 years related experience in healthcare IT, clinical informatics, or application management.
