At the Arizona Game and Fish Department (AZGFD), we are looking for a dynamic Office Program Manager to lead our Yuma team in delivering world‑class service to hunters, anglers, and conservationists who make our mission possible.
Why This Role MattersAs the Office Program Manager, you are the face of AZGFD in the Yuma community. Your leadership ensures that our regional office runs like a well‑oiled machine, allowing our biologists and officers to focus on the field while you provide the public with the information, licenses, and education they need to enjoy Arizona’s outdoors responsibly. You’ll play a critical role in Continuity of Operations, standing in for leadership during vital decision‑making moments and ensuring that every dollar of our regional budget is used effectively to support wildlife.
Job Duties- Lead Regional Operations
:
Serve as the assistant project lead for statewide programs and act as the primary contact for critical operational issues in the Yuma region. - Empower a Service Team
:
Supervise and mentor front‑counter staff, ensuring they have the training and tools to provide superior education and service to the public. - Manage Resources
:
Oversee regional budgets, reconcile funding sources, and manage Department property and assets to ensure taxpayer dollars are used with integrity. - Bridge the Gap
:
Act as the liaison between the Department and the community, interpreting complex wildlife laws and regulations for the public. - Drive Engagement
:
Take a lead role in R3 (Recruitment, Retention, and Reactivation) training and events, helping more Arizonans get involved in hunting, fishing, and shooting sports. - Coordinate Volunteers
:
Manage the vital volunteer force, ensuring they are trained, tracked, and ready to support our mission. - Administration of Regional Business Operations and Continuity of Operations
:
Serve as assistant project lead to Phoenix‑based programs; coordinate with all divisions to develop and implement new and existing policies, procedures, directives, and forms. - Supervise Customer Service Staff
:
Oversee front‑counter public information/education; implement customer service functions; direct staff on non‑administrative projects; keep staff updated with training and policies. - Oversight of Regional Budgets and Management of Department Property
:
Monitor, reconcile, and coordinate budgets, funding sources, and reporting; manage inventory, inspections, repairs, assessments, hazards and liabilities. - Administration of Regional Personnel Actions
:
Coordinate with HR on recruitment, interviewing, hiring, and promotions; serve as regional payroll proxy for supervisors. - Public Information/Education
:
Liaise with the public to provide correct interpretations of laws, rules, statutes, and regulations; attend community engagement and partnership opportunities; lead R3 training and events. - Other duties as assigned related to the position.
Candidate must possess knowledge of Commission/Department policies, procedures, and all applicable laws, rules, and statutes; knowledge of public information/education and regional business operations; principles and processes for providing customer and personal services.
Must be skilled in administering programs, coaching, analyzing complex laws, priorities multiple projects, budgets, reconciling and auditing data; negotiate, resolve conflicts, problem‑solve, provide customer service, build teams, and communicate effectively.
Should be able to interpret complex laws, maintain a regional customer service team, create performance standards, and anticipate customer needs.
