Location Description

Michael Foods, Inc. located in Yuma, Arizona nestled between Phoenix and San Diego. Yuma features extraordinary outdoor activities from tubing on the Colorado River to off‑roading at the Buttercup Sand Dunes. Our location produces hard boiled eggs for a vast number of both retail and food service customers.

Responsibilities

Position Summary:

The employee has the responsibility to comply with safety work rules at all times as well as an obligation to reinforce safety as a core value. Ensures that all policies, procedures, and activities related to Food Safety & Quality are followed and complied with uniformly, in an effort to reduce product and process variability.

Duties And Responsibilities
  • Maintain and operate all equipment in a safe manner to avoid injury to self or others and demonstrate safety as a top priority.
  • Follow all SQF principles pertinent to your position as specified by the SQF Practitioner.
  • Report all Food Safety & Quality issues to a Supervisor, QA Manager, or Senior Manager.
  • Inspecting/sorting the eggs and ensuring the best quality product is being packaged.
  • Confirm and verify weight of product.
  • Ensure labels and product date and type are correct.
  • Place proper labels on boxes.
  • Ensure that bags and pails are properly sealed and clean.
  • Inspect and check the quality of eggs. Remove broken eggs.
  • Perform packing duties, including organizing, labeling, and preparing products for shipment.
  • Operate palletizer equipment to stack, secure, and prepare pallets according to production and safety standards.
  • Understand dates, expiration and item numbers.
  • Minimize product loss.
  • Keep work area neat, clean, and sanitary.
  • Report all work‑related injuries or unsafe conditions to supervisor immediately.
  • Use appropriate safety equipment when required (ear plugs, rubber boots, safety glasses, face shields, aprons, bump caps, etc.).
  • Follow instructions from supervisor and cooperate with coworkers and other departments; be willing to fill in where needed.
  • Maintain good personal hygiene.
  • Able to work weekends, holidays and overtime as needed.

  • Demonstrates the ability to maintain positive interpersonal relationships and work effectively with others to complete work assignments.
  • Able to work independently or with others in a team environment depending upon the assignment.
  • Maintains a positive attitude.
  • Ability to work around required cleaning solutions.
  • In order to promote a manufacturing environment that is safe and efficient for both personnel and food, the ability to effectively communicate in basic English (both verbal and written) is required.
  • Ability to speak, read and comprehend safety instructions, rules and warnings, short correspondence, and memos for self and others in both normal and emergency situations.
  • Ability to effectively present information on one‑on‑one and small group situations to supervisors and other employees of the organization.
  • Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in oral form.
  • Ability to deal with problems involving one concrete variable in standardized situations.
Physical Demands
  • Ability to work in cold, wet, noisy, dusty and humid environments.
  • Possesses good hand‑eye coordination.
  • Able to stand on hard surface most of the shift, ascend and descend stairs, bend, stoop or crouch, grasp and reach.
  • Ability to lift up to 50 lbs.
  • Standing for long periods of time.
  • The noise levels in the work environment will range from moderate to loud.
