Structures​/Sheet Metal Technician, F-- Level 4

Job Title

This position will be part of the Lockheed Martin Sustainment Services, supporting the F-35 Field Modification Team at various locations. Candidate will be assigned to MCAS Yuma, AZ supporting F-35 modification efforts. Traveling may be required ~30-50% depending on business and Customer requirements.

This position will involve:

• Heavy Depot Level Maintenance, Repair and modification of the aircraft structure and major subassemblies. Plan, lay out, fabricate, assemble, install, and repair various sheet metal and structural assemblies and sub-assemblies utilizing precision measuring equipment.
• Working with precision measuring instruments, micrometers, calipers, tape measures, and standard scales. Candidate will have extensive and recent experience utilizing tools to include but not limited to drills, angle motors, shears, drill press, and pneumatic riveter.
• Reading and interpreting engineering drawings, technical manuals, structure repair manuals, understanding symbols, flags, and general notes
  - Identify aircraft locations by station, butt-line, and waterline as shown on engineering documentation and technical orders.
• Exercising a complete knowledge of bonding practices, procedures, makes layouts and locates parts and material for exacting fit where critical surface contours, edge distances or coordinated dimensions must be established and maintained; completes all bonding operations exercising ingenuity in determining the most efficient fabrication and assembly methods.
• Verifying application/condition of installed LO materials for conformity to specifications and determining material and time required to perform repairs; removes, takes corrective action and makes reinstallations where design and modification changes.
• Performing repetitive movements, working overhead, using hands to grasp, handle, and/or feel, reach. The candidate is frequently required to stand, walk, stoop, kneel, squat, crawl, and twist.
• Candidate must have the ability to travel to international Customer Sites if required by business and Customer requirements (~30-50%).

- This position is located at a facility that requires special access. The selected candidate must possess a Secret Clearance to start.

Physical Requirements:

This may include certain military required health screenings and immunizations. This position regularly requires to lift up to 50 pounds and perform repetitive movements, work overhead, use hands to grasp, handle, and/or feel, reach with hands and arms. The employee is frequently required to stand, walk, stoop, kneel, squat, crawl, and twist. Confined Space Entry. Position may also require extended work hours.

Basic Qualifications:

The following Basic Qualifications are skills that a candidate must possess to be considered for this position:

• Candidate must have structural repair experience on fighter type aircraft.
• Candidate must have experience with fabricating shims, brackets and plates as required and performing assembly operations such as trimming, filing, drilling, riveting, reforming and fitment of parts and details, and removing burrs or other surface imperfections as required.
• Candidate must have experience with bonding of aircraft parts, assemblies and materials on complete and incomplete aircraft, where methods and operational sequences are not established.
• Candidate must be able to wear and perform aircraft modifications while wearing a respirator.

Skills:

The following Desired Skills are not required but are those skills that would set a candidate apart from the other candidates:

• 4 years of structural repair experience on fighter type aircraft, specifically F-35 or F-22 platforms.
• Low Observable (LO) Coatings Application experience specifically F-35 or F-22 platforms.
• Experience with Industry Standard Tool Control programs, Haz Mat handling procedures.
• Experience with ALIS.
