Listed is the base hiring salary range offered for this position. Actual salaries may vary depending on factors, including but not limited to skills and experience. Min = $39.93 | Mid = $51.91 | Max = $63.89.

The RN Clinical Lactation Consultant applies clinical expertise, professional judgment, and in-depth knowledge of the breastfeeding dyad to support and educate breastfeeding mothers and their families across prenatal, postpartum, and outpatient settings. This role involves providing detailed documentation, implementing care modalities, and facilitating communication between the breastfeeding dyad, physicians, and the healthcare team. The RN Lactation Consultant serves as a resource for nursing staff and physicians, conducting research and offering consultations on breastfeeding-related matters.

The position also includes participation in specialized outreach programs focused on Maternal and Child Health.

Provides direct and indirect breastfeeding care and responds to referrals by physicians, nursing personnel, and/or patients. Assesses, plans, and executes care involving patient and family, performs evaluations, and provides treatment in an ongoing, timely, and systematic manner following standard format within the time specified by specialty standards. Formulates goal-directed prioritized inpatient developmental care plan or outpatient home program based on patient focus and expected outcome.

Makes daily routine rounds and provides individual assistance to mothers experiencing breastfeeding problems. Serves as a consultant in the management of breastfeeding patients, maintains effective working relationships with physicians and nursing personnel, and documents consultations. Functions as a resource for other staff and other agencies, offers assistance to public health nurse, provides lactation education to physicians, nursing, patients, and consumers, and participates in prenatal and community education.

Demonstrates awareness of self-responsibility and accountability for own professional practice and validates knowledge base and skill level. Responsible for formulation of the Lactation Services Quality Improvement Plan and conducting quality improvement activities in accordance with the quality improvement plan. • Registered Nurse (RN)
• Basic Life Support (BLS)

• Associate’s Degree in Nursing

• Associate degree in Nursing
• AZ RN
• BLS
• Certified Lactation Counselor (CLC) OR Certified Lactation Educator OR Certified Lactation Consultant (IBCLC) (preferred)
• 3+ years of RN experience caring for women and newborns in a post-partum setting or related experience such as a lactation clinic
