SummaryThis medical surgical unit provides individualized care for adult acute care patients. Patients have a variety of acute and chronic illnesses. Unit census fluctuates seasonally and the team values teamwork, flexibility, and quality care.
ResponsibilitiesThe Registered Nurse (RN) Inpatient is accountable for coordinating nursing care, including direct patient care, patient/family education, and transitions of care. The RN supports professional nursing practice across settings and across the continuum of care to meet the needs of patients and families. Functions within the Yuma Regional Medical Centers Clinic Nursing Professional Practice Model, including planning, implementing, evaluating, and communicating all phases of nursing care for assigned patients.
Provides leadership through preceptor role, informal and formal leadership roles, and quality improvement efforts. Delegates patient care according to skill level, experience, patient acuity, fiscal accountability, and resource availability. Demonstrates excellent communication skills and mentors and teaches. Participates on committees or projects and functions within the Scope and Standards of Practice as outlined by the American Nursing Association and state law.
In addition, the RN: inspires hope and nurtures well‑being, listens attentively, delivers personalized service, and performs activities ensuring a safe environment. The RN collects and analyzes assessment data to determine diagnosis or issues, prioritizes information, documents it in compliance with guidelines, develops individualized plans of care, implements and coordinates care, employs health promotion, evaluates progress, applies principles of ethical practice, and integrates evidence and research into practice.
