SummaryThe Registered Nurse (RN) in the Rapid Decision Unit is responsible for coordinating nursing care, including direct patient care, education, and transitions of care. The RN supports professional nursing practice across settings and the continuum of care, plans, implements, evaluates, and communicates all phases of nursing care for assigned patients, and provides leadership through preceptor roles, informal and formal leadership activities, and quality improvement efforts.
Responsibilities- Inspires hope and nurtures the well‑being of the whole person, respecting physical, emotional, and spiritual needs; listens attentively to patients, visitors, and colleagues to ensure understanding of their needs and asks clarifying questions; delivers personalized service; performs activities ensuring a safe environment by practicing five safe behaviors.
- Collects and analyzes assessment data to determine diagnosis or issues; assesses comprehensive data including physical, psychosocial, emotional, cognitive, and spiritual needs; uses evidence‑based techniques and instruments; documents data in compliance with established guidelines.
- Identifies expected outcomes and develops a plan prescribing strategies for health promotion, restoration, or maintenance; involves patient, family, and team in formulating a culturally appropriate plan of care; applies evidence‑based practices and documents measurable goals.
- Implements the identified plan and coordinates care delivery; prioritizes interventions based on the patient’s condition and preferences; performs treatments and procedures per established protocols; documents interventions and communicates information through hand‑offs.
- Applies strategies to promote health and a safe environment; utilizes appropriate teaching strategies; supports patients and families in developing healthy lifestyles; maintains a safe, clean, organized environment; seeks opportunities for feedback on effectiveness of strategies.
- Evaluates progress toward attainment of outcomes; assesses patient/family understanding and response; revises diagnoses, outcomes, and plan of care; documents reassessment and rationale for revisions.
- Applies professional codes of ethics, maintains therapeutic relationships, serves as patient advocate, communicates concerns, and reports inappropriate or unsafe practices.
- Integrates evidence and research findings into practice; participates in evidence‑based and research activities; shares findings with the healthcare team.
- Basic Life Support (BLS)
- Registered Nurse (RN)
- Associate’s Degree in Nursing
Required:
1+ years of related experience.
