Position Overview
Registered Nurse operating room position at Shea Medical Center (9003ESheaBlvd, Scottsdale, AZ85260). Shift: Night with a 3x12 schedule – 630p‑0700 or 1030p‑07a (four to five nights). Sign‑on bonus up to $20,000 is available.
Responsibilities- Record patients’ medical histories and symptoms; perform diagnostic tests and analyze results.
- Operate medical equipment and administer treatments, medications, and IV therapies.
- Develop, implement, and evaluate patient care plans, including medication administration, dosage checks, and IV line management.
- Provide patient and family education on illness management, post‑treatment care, nutrition, and therapy.
- Supervise and delegate care to licensed practical nurses and nursing aides, and provide direction on patient care.
- Precept new hire staff and student nurses, supporting completion of competency requirements.
- Maintain and advance clinical knowledge, contributing to continuous improvement of nursing practice.
- Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams to assess, plan, implement, and evaluate patient care.
- Collect and analyze health data systematically, prioritizing based on patient needs and involving family members.
- Use nursing diagnoses to develop individualized, evidence‑based care plans that are family‑centered and culturally relevant.
- Initiate interventions, including treatments, medications, and emergency measures, following standing orders, policies, and procedures.
- Document observations, interventions, and outcomes in a retrievable format and evaluate care effectiveness.
- Evaluate own practice against professional standards, laws, regulations, and system policies, maintaining current knowledge of nursing practice.
- Integrate ethical principles and respect cultural diversity in all aspects of care.
- Participate in professional development and peer‑mentoring initiatives to foster a quality practice environment.
- Lead or support evidence‑based practice initiatives, identifying opportunities for improvement and facilitating adoption of best practices.
- Utilize resources efficiently, considering safety, effectiveness, and cost in planning and delivering patient care.
- Associate or Diploma in Nursing; must complete a BSN within 60 months of hire or have five or more years of RN experience, including direct patient care or indirect RN roles.
- BSN in Nursing preferred.
- Specific education requirements for stroke patient care may apply; see addendum prior to start.
- At least one year of RN experience required; experience in med‑surg or acute specialty settings for at least 10 months required.
- Experience in float positions required.
- Operating room RN experience required.
- BLS certification, including unit‑specific training as required.
- Registered Nurse license in Arizona (state or compact) required upon hire.
- National certification for unit‑specific patient populations preferred.
