Description:
Must have at least two years of emergency room experience with trauma Level I and II within the past two years. Only candidates with Level I and II experience will be considered. Must adhere to a 100-mile radius rule. No guarantees for 48 hours or blocked scheduling requests. No more than 5 days of requested time off (RTO). Staffing ratios are 1:5 for medical and 1:6 for fast track.
Facility operates as a Level 3 trauma center. Will receive STEMI and Stroke interventions but will send out if advanced stroke intervention is required. Total of 52 beds with 4 trauma bays. Average patient volume is 200 per day. Required certifications include BLS, ACLS, PALS, and NIHSS; TNCC is preferred. Floating may occur; schedules are usually set in advance. Role includes reading telemetry and having a monitor technician present.
There are 6 fast track beds and a quick look triage area utilizing emergency severity index (ESI). Holding areas are intermingled within the emergency room. There are no separate seclusion rooms available. Security is present in the facility 24/7, located near the lobby of the emergency department. Common diagnoses and patient needs span a wide range of emergencies. Common drips for ICU patients will be managed with the assistance of ICU personnel when possible.
Shifts for medical staff vary, including mid-level and pediatric board-certified providers. No designated charge nurse is present; the house supervisor is available for assistance if necessary. Emergency department technicians with 2 years of experience are available for support tasks such as EKGs and vital signs. Respiratory therapy is present 24/7 with equipment for various treatments. Dedicated CT and X-ray services are available in the emergency room, and RNs will accompany critical patients during transport.
ED techs will perform laboratory draws; RNs may also draw labs from IV starts. Shift scheduling varies, with start times at multiple intervals throughout the day. Weekend commitments typically require working 4 shifts within a 4-week block. Holiday commitments typically require working 2 of the 5 holidays. Navy blue scrubs are the expected attire. Training will include one day of clinical orientation on the floor.
Cancellation policies allow clients to cancel hours equivalent to weekly guaranteed hours for the assignment.
