Job Summary
Manage the Superior Court in Yuma County’s Safety and Security Program and staff; manage security and safety of Court facilities; coordinate security planning and operations. This is a working manager position; the incumbent performs full range of Court Security Officer duties as needed while providing leadership to staff.
Responsibilities- Select, train, and evaluate Security Officers and supervisors.
- Plan, schedule, and conduct training and performance evaluations.
- Develop and implement security policies, procedures, and emergency plans.
- Coordinate with local and regional law enforcement and justice agencies.
- Review and approve purchases, maintain inventory, and manage budget.
- Operate electronic security systems, monitor CCTV and alarm systems.
- Conduct walking and mobile patrols and escort services.
- Respond to emergencies and implement emergency procedures.
- Operate metal detectors, X‑ray machines, and handle weapons screening.
- Provide customer service and assist law enforcement with surveillance.
- Perform related duties as required.
- High school diploma or GED.
- Five years of progressively responsible experience in law enforcement, military, private security, or closely related fields, including two years of supervisory experience; or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience.
- Pass criminal background and reference checks.
- Pass a psychological evaluation and polygraph examination.
- Maintain Arizona Driver’s License with a clean driving record.
- Complete Court Security Officer Academy and Firearms Academy within the first twelve (12) months.
- Maintain all required certifications, qualifications, and firearms proficiency standards.
- Annual accreditation with the Arizona Committee on Judicial Education and Training (COJET).
May be exposed to physical harm, infectious diseases, and violence; must restrain persons and handle stressful emergency situations; maintain physical fitness; may lift or carry heavy items.
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities- Knowledge of Arizona statutes, rules, administrative orders, and Yuma County policies.
- Knowledge of judicial merit system rules, security procedures, and electronic security systems.
- Skills in interacting with diverse populations, working under pressure, organizing security efforts, analyzing problems, collaborating with agencies, using firearms and equipment, operating computers, and communicating effectively.
- Abilities to identify hazardous conditions, maintain firearms proficiency, respond swiftly to security problems, and follow written and oral instructions.

Medical CoverageEmployees enroll in YCEBT, a self‑funded medical plan administered by Blue Cross Blue Shield of Arizona. Two plan options are available:
1) Preferred Provider Option A (PPO) with a $1,100 deductible and wellness incentive;
2) High Deductible High Plan – Health Savings Account (HDHP‑HSA) with a $1,700 deductible. Employer contributes a total of $800.04 to HSA and up to $360 to an FSA for eligible employees.
