The Rig Helper
The Rig Helper will assist with the installation, maintenance, and operation of drilling equipment used for water wells, irrigation systems, and agriculturally based rig activities. Duties include laying out, assembling, and maintaining pipes, pumps, and related equipment. The position may require driving the company vehicle.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities- Assist with installation of irrigation projects, including pumps, pipe, and permanent installation.
- Bundle irrigation pipe and handle loading/unloading of pipe. Prepare, load, and pump teardowns. Assemble and secure pipes, fittings, and related equipment per project specifications.
- Read work orders and receive oral instructions to determine assignments and material and equipment needs.
- Load, secure, and unload materials and equipment using appropriate tools, machinery, and equipment according to specifications.
- Handle tools, pipe, casing, and other materials used in drilling and turbine operations.
- Use hand and power tools to modify, clean, and maintain pipe systems, units, fittings, pumps, and related equipment following specifications.
- Track and maintain company tools and supplies, report any damage or missing items to Lead, Supervisor, or Manager.
- Inspect, examine, and test installed systems and pipelines using pressure gauge, hydrostatic testing, observation, or other methods.
- Perform demonstration of equipment for customers upon installation and testing completion when required. Complete Job Site Analysis for customer job sites where work is to be performed.
- Conduct pre‑trip vehicle inspections for proper maintenance and running of vehicle prior to operating the vehicle on the road or in the yard. Perform basic equipment inspections and report maintenance needs.
- Assist with minor maintenance and cleaning of rig truck, tools, supplies and equipment to support a clean, organized, and safe worksite.
- Other duties as assigned in support of the operation.
