The work under this contract involves harvesting various crops, including iceberg lettuce, romaine hearts lettuce, mixed lettuce, broccoli, cauliflower, and celery, and bunching items, both organic and conventional.
Farm workers And Laborers, CropGeneral farm labor as pre-harvest labor, irrigation, transplanting, and tractor driving. Work may be done on the ground and/or with the use of a harvesting machine where workers may place the product in the cartons while walking behind or mounted on the machine. Some workers may carry, assemble empty boxes and load the full boxes.
The worker must be able to lift 50 lbs. Variable weather conditions. All work must be performed in a manner that exhibits Good Agricultural Practices (GAP) and the utmost in food safety at all times.
Worker must attend required orientation, and time attendance will be compensated.
Ag Equipment Operator/Loader Summary
Description:
Drive and control farm equipment in the field, such as a Bertelli, Ramsey, or Melonera Harvest Machine. Requires two (2) months of verifiable experience within the last two (2) years working in diversified crops to avoid crop damage and personal injury. Ag Equipment Operator requires two (2) months verifiable experience. Workers will be expected to work in conditions normally associated with uneven fields and the Arizona climate.
These conditions include dust, extremes of temperature and humidity, wind and at times exposure to high levels of pollen. Workers should wear clothing suited to these conditions, including closed-toe shoes, hats, gloves, protective sleeves and jackets which will provide adequate protection and allow freedom of movement. Experience in driving farm equipment. Must be able to understand work & safety instructions in English or Spanish, the languages spoken and written in the workplace.
