The Journeyman Forming Operator is a full-time, on-site role based at O-I’s facility in Zanesville, OH. This role is responsible for operating and monitoring glass-forming equipment to produce high‑quality bottles and jars according to production specifications and safety standards. Day‑to‑day tasks include setting up and adjusting forming machines, performing routine inspections, identifying and correcting defects, and collaborating with maintenance and other production team members to resolve equipment issues.
The Journeyman Forming Operator records production data, follows standard operating procedures, and supports continuous improvement and efficiency initiatives on the shop floor. The position requires working in a hot, fast‑paced manufacturing environment and adhering to all safety and quality regulations.
- Strong mechanical aptitude with experience operating, adjusting, and troubleshooting industrial or manufacturing machinery.
- Knowledge of production processes, quality standards, and basic reading of technical drawings or work instructions.
- Ability to work safely in a high‑temperature, high‑noise environment, including consistent use of required personal protective equipment.
- Basic math, measurement, and record‑keeping skills for tracking production output and monitoring process parameters.
- Effective teamwork and communication skills to coordinate with supervisors, maintenance, and fellow operators.
- Ability to stand for extended periods, perform repetitive tasks, and lift materials as required by the role.
- Prior experience in glass manufacturing, heavy industrial production, or a similar environment is preferred.
- High school diploma or equivalent; technical or vocational training in manufacturing or mechanics is a plus.
- Willingness to work rotating shifts, weekends, and overtime as needed to meet production demands.
