Overview of Position
In order to fulfill Genesis Health Care System’s mission of providing compassionate, quality health care, all employees must live the Mission and values of Compassion, Excellence, Integrity, Team, and Innovation. The 24‑bed Critical Care Unit (CCU) cares for trauma, surgical, respiratory, and cardiac patients. The CCU RN works independently with minimal supervision while collaborating with physicians and other disciplines to ensure quality patient care.
The RN may become a relief charge nurse, care for CVVHD, IABP, and join the open‑heart recovery team.

Critical Care Unit 3 Tower.
- Provides direct patient care in accordance with physician orders in a warm and friendly manner.
- Takes and records measurements or readings.
- Assesses condition and provides treatment for patient care.
- Administers prescribed medications.
- Provides leadership while working collaboratively with other care givers on the unit.
- Participates in keeping the unit prepared for HFAP on an ongoing basis.
- Assists with patient rounds.
- Current Ohio RN License and ADN.
- CPR certification within 30 days of employment.
- Advanced Cardiac Life Support Certification (ACLS) within one year of employment in CCU.
- One year experience in an acute care setting.
- Ability to read, write and explain or describe moderately complex information to other hospital staff.
- Attention to detail.
- Ability to communicate well in an oral and written manner, as well as the ability to observe, assess, guide, and evaluate others.
- Ability to read, calculate and prepare medication, as well as to observe and analyze any resulting reactions and apply clinical knowledge.
- Ability to collect data, interpret findings, set priorities and carry out an established plan.
- Demonstrates competence in age‑specific patient care as documented by the attached checklist.

Physical Requirements
- Ability to sit, stand, stoop, push, pull, bend, and walk for extended periods.
- Ability to lift 50 pounds to waist level.
- Ability to communicate orally and in writing, observe, assess, guide, and evaluate others.
