Student Nurse Intern

Overview

Under the delegation and supervision of the registered nurse, the Student Nurse Intern will administer basic, direct and/or indirect patient care and perform various procedures and related services necessary to the care and needs of patients/customers. The intern will also perform clerical duties and other department functions as directed.

Nursing students enrolled in a two‑year or less program and within nine months of graduation are eligible. Applicants must complete a Genesis employment application with an attached resume and an essay describing their nursing career goals, and may be required to participate in a panel interview.

• Vital signs, FSBS, input/output
• Bladder scan
• Foley placement / Straight Cath
• EKG
• Phlebotomy
• Telemetry reading
• Staff assistant tasks
• Discontinue IVs
• Dressing changes
• Documentation of all tasks
• Purposeful patient rounding
• SMART equipment
• Assist with literature review for evidence‑based practice

Interns will work 16 hours per pay period with flexible scheduling (4, 8 or 12‑hour shifts). The schedule includes two weekend shifts per six‑week cycle and one holiday per year.

Competitive wages and a streamlined orientation process with weekend and evening opportunities. Graduates of the program and who complete their nursing program are eligible for up to $300 to purchase work attire and supplies from Imlay Uniforms, and up to $700 for graduation fees and NCLEX preparation.
