Overview
Under the delegation and supervision of the registered nurse, the Student Nurse Intern will administer basic, direct and/or indirect patient care and perform various procedures and related services necessary to the care and needs of patients/customers. The intern will also perform clerical duties and other department functions as directed.
EligibilityNursing students enrolled in a two‑year or less program and within nine months of graduation are eligible. Applicants must complete a Genesis employment application with an attached resume and an essay describing their nursing career goals, and may be required to participate in a panel interview.
Responsibilities- Personal patient care
- Vital signs, FSBS, input/output
- Bladder scan
- Foley placement / Straight Cath
- EKG
- Phlebotomy
- Telemetry reading
- Staff assistant tasks
- Discontinue IVs
- Dressing changes
- Documentation of all tasks
- Purposeful patient rounding
- SMART equipment
- Assist with literature review for evidence‑based practice
Interns will work 16 hours per pay period with flexible scheduling (4, 8 or 12‑hour shifts). The schedule includes two weekend shifts per six‑week cycle and one holiday per year.
